The Ministry of Defence in the UK has doubled the number of redundancies for this year. The MOD says that the accelerated plan is due to higher than the expected take-up on the voluntary redundancies. While MOD says that this will help reach its 3 year redundancies targets quicker, the unions and some of the front line staff criticise this action of MOD as they fear that this could impact the capability of essential support services to the front line.
